Samuel Jefferson

Whilst studying Medicine at Newcastle University, Samuel wrote several award-winning one-act plays including Cannes, which received critical praise at The Edinburgh Festival, and Dust, which won the People’s Choice Award at the Durham International Drama Festival.

After working as a full-time doctor for two years, Samuel left his training in order to follow his passion for writing and complete a master’s degree in Screenwriting at The London Film School. Since graduating with Merit from The LFS in 2014, Samuel has continued to build his career in screenwriting whilst still working as a freelance doctor in the Emergency Room.

Samuel won the BAFTA / Rocliffe comedy initiative in 2015 and had his work showcased at The New York Television Festival. After this his medical drama series Incision was optioned by ITV Studios. Samuel has recently finished work on his debut novel, part of a five book series entitled The Pentas Collection. Samuel wrote the short film Gypsy’s Kiss, which won the Director’s UK Challenge ALEXA competition in 2017 and his short film script Rummage was a finalist in the Short Scripts Short Film Fund 2018. Samuel is also the writer of the short film Der Junge im Schnee (The Boy In The Snow) , created for German director Dieter Primig and the film entered the festival circuit in 2021.

Samuel graduated from the Serial Eyes programme at the Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie (DFFB) in Berlin, Europe’s premier postgraduate training programme for television writers and producers in 2018. He currently has a number of television, film and web-series projects in various stages of development for both the UK and European markets.
