Eleonora Veninova

Eleonora is a writer/director of award-winning short films and TV Series. She holds a BA in journalism from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, MA in Screenwriting from California State University Northridge and is an alumni of the Serial Eyes program for TV writers in Berlin, Germany.

She likes to live in different places and in 2010 she moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she worked for a local production company, ate injera and went on a visit to Erta Ale volcano and Danakil depression, still the best trip of her life.

Her films ‘Hairs’ and ‘Fighting for Death’ have won dozen awards and screened at over 60 festivals around the world. Her last short film ‘The Sign’ which she co-wrote/directed with Yona Rozenkier premiered in the Director’s Fortnight program at Cannes Film Festival’s 2019 edition as part of ‘ SEE Factory omnibus film. Additionally, Eleonora has written for several TV series in Macedonia including the sitcom ‘Prespav’ which she co-created and the original drama series ‘Familija Markovski.’

She is currently in post-production with her first feature film, the drama ‘Sabattier Effect’ financed by the Macedonian Film Agency, Serbian Film Center, SEE Cinema Network and Euroimages, as well as developing her own series. Other than moving around the world, she likes writing drama, but somehow keeps getting stuck in comedies. Other interests include dogs, donkeys, volcanoes and aliens.
